Although I had never been to the "cream Putt", it seemed like a good idea today - I was thinking that perhaps all these "clues" were based on the Mini-Golf surroundings in the basement... I heard there is even a bridge there! and, the walls have huge demons painted on them? I thought it fit, and took a short walk to check it out - but, its closed except on weekend's - Oh well.

Although I looked quite some time ago, I wanted you all to know that Peter's field Park in Westmount also seemed like a good place to hunt for the one. I did not check it out completely - I was just out for a walk. BTW, I was researching the history of the park, it is quite interesting, and I recommend the read... You can access the information here: Cape Breton Regional Libary - Mclennans of Peterefield

It was interesting to discover that this family had done so much for Cape Breton, and I couldn't help but think that perhaps The Giant is using this contest to make us all aware of our Island's past. Think about it - Have you not learned many new things about Cape Breton since this all began?

20. It’s the oldest they say, under the cross, The one is close but your still lost.

Ok folks, while you were all checking out the local church's, I simply googled this, and came up with this little tidbit.. Hope it helps!

"One of the oldest of the symbols of the cross is the anchor. Originally a symbol of hope in general, the anchor takes on in this way a much higher meaning: that of hope based on the Cross of Christ"

So, I figured this clue meant that its NEAR an ANCHOR...

Good Luck!

Just thought I'd let you know that I know where it is. I am in Halifax though, so I can't get to it. DanWilson@live.ca, first person to message me gets to know.

By the way, Under The Cross... is referring to The Union Jack.

Email received from DanWilsonX;

------------------------------------------------------------

You are the first. I mean I could be wrong. But unless the riddles and clues have a double meaning its at the oldest baseball field in Sydney. Which to my knowledge is Victoria Park.

People come from Here and Away, just like a sport.

Guarded by Giants... Capitalized G, meaning the team.

Oldest One under the cross... If I remember correctly there is a church nearby.

People play there, and people pass it every day.

The act of stealing a home, is also known as Breaking in to home base.

Baseball has bats.

It has to be somewhere there.

Other places that it could possibly fit would be, a closed mine. Though two of my friends are searching New Victoria at Gowrie at the moment.

A sand trap, at a golf course.

or a Penalty Box at a hockey rink.

But all clued point to baseball field.

The only clue that doesn't seem to fit is the, "Unlike most, I like it here..." bit. Though, that could mean riding the bench. So I would say you are looking for a dugout. Or possibly lining the fence.

Some food for thought 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hello everyone on the mission for the “one”!

I wanted to share with you all, some further history of Sydney, Cape Breton during my quest for the missing “one”. I had received an email from a member of the site regarding the “one” being hidden at the oldest baseball field in Sydney, which to his knowledge was “Victoria Park”. Victoria Park is now a Militia base in Sydney, and access to this location is strictly forbidden as a defense establishment at this time as such.

After checking out yet another diamond down in the North End of Sydney I decided to check in with a former pitcher for the Sydney Sooner’s - Mr. Kenny Power for his take on the clues at this point in time. Mr. Power confirmed that the pitcher is indeed the number “one” position in baseball.

Mr. Power indicated that he felt the missing one must be located at the “Susan McEachern Memorial Ballpark” in Sydney. He stated that the clues just seemed to all point to that location. When asked about the clue “guarded by Giants” Mr. Power responded “Susan McEachern WAS a Giant in our community”.

For those unaware, I wanted to share with you a little of the Sydney Sooner’s history – that of Mr. Power’s. KP set a Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League game strikeout record in 1979. During League quarter-final playoff action against the Morell Chevies in P.E.I, KP struck out 22 batters to lead the Sooner’s to an 11-1 Victory.

After my conversation with KP, I decided I had better go have a look down at the Susan McEachern Memorial Ballpark. Upon arrival, it was noted that you indeed had to cross a bridge to get to the park! However, to my dismay the gates to the park were locked, which almost immediately indicated that perhaps this was not the place. I was eager to read the memorial for Susan McEachern, but it was also locked inside the park. I urge you all to check out the attached photo of the Susan McEachern memorial, and, the clipping of the story of Mr. Kenny Power’s achievements with the Sooner’s that August in P.E.I. 30 years ago.

BTW – I already checked out the pitcher’s mound
