Most Hit A man arrested on Friday night faces additional charges as a result of a search yesterday morning in Halifax. On Friday, June 17 at 9:20 p.m., a man was arrested during a traffic stop in the 300 block of Bedford Highway. That led to a search of a nearby residence where a handgun and drugs were located. A woman was also arrested at that location and both appeared in court yesterday to face numerous drug and weapons related offences.

At 9:30 a.m. yesterday, officers assigned to the HRP / RCMP Integrated Financial Crime Unit conducted a search of a storage unit on Chebucto Road in connection with the arrest on Friday. Three rifles and two handguns, as well as a quantity of cocaine, ecstasy and other prescription medicine were seized.

In addition to the charges laid in the incident on Friday night, 39-year-old Colin Nicholas Paris of Halifax faces 25 new charges in connection with yesterday’s search. They consist of five counts each for unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence, possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on the new charges today.
