The HRP / RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating a sexual assault that occurred last night in Dartmouth.

On Sunday, June 12, 2011 at approximately 9 pm, a 19-year-old woman was jogging in Shubie Park near a field and bridge.

She passed a man who was walking in the opposite direction and was grabbed from behind, forced into the woods and sexually assaulted.  The suspect is described as a white man, 19-25 years-old, 5’6”, thin build with short dark hair and chin strap facial hair.  At the time of the incident he was wearing a white t-shirt, black shoes and jeans.

Investigators are interested in speaking with anyone who was in the park last evening and are asking them or anyone with information to call 490-5333.
