Members of the Halifax District RCMP in Cole Harbour arrested two 18 year old males in relation to a series of thefts of gas from vehicles over the past two months.

These arrests are linked to at least 12 different thefts, in each the gas tank of the vehicle was drilled into and the gas then drained out.  In some of the incidents there was fuel spillage either at the time of the theft or when the owner unknowingly went to refill the tank at the gas station which caused additional environmental concern and cleanup.  These thefts took place in Musquodoboit Harbour, Cole Harbour and Dartmouth.

On Sunday, May 8, 2011 Shortly after 4 am, an alert neighbour noticed suspicious activity across the street from his Cole Harbour residence.  Believing the suspects to possibly be stealing the tires from his neighbour's car, he called 911 and then reported that the suspects were leaving in their own vehicle.  Responding officers were able to stop that car and found several gas cans and assorted tools in the car along with the two young men.

The males will be facing numerous charges of theft and mischief (property damage).
