Halifax Regional Police is investigating a sexual assault that took place early this morning in Halifax.

On Friday, May 6, 2011 at approximately 4:30 a.m., a 19-year-old woman was walking west on Sackville Street with a female friend when a man came up behind her, reached up her shirt and inappropriately touched her.

The woman screamed and the man ran off, heading south on South Park Street.  The woman flagged over a police car and a search of the area was conducted, however he was not located.  He is described as a white man, 5’9”, with a medium build and short dark hair.  At the time of the incident he was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
