Nova Scotia athletes had their best day yet at the Halifax 2011 Canada Games, today, Feb. 24, when they captured four silver medals in snowboarding, judo and figure skating.



The following athletes brought home silver medals today:

  • Dallas Rourke, Falmouth, women's halfpipe, snowboarding
  • Jeremy Page, Falmouth, men's halfpipe, snowboarding
  • Brent MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury, judo
  • Tia Dolliver, Dartmouth, Special Olympics figure skating

"This is officially Team Nova Scotia's best showing in the history of the Canada Games and it happened right here at home," said Premier Darrell Dexter.

The premier offered congratulations to the four medalists, their families and coaches.

"Congratulations to all of you. Your efforts have paid off," said Premier Dexter. "I know I speak for all Nova Scotians when I say how proud we are of your efforts. This is truly a great day for amateur sport in the province."

Nova Scotia now has eight medals: three gold, four silver, and one bronze.
