Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a single vehicle roll over collision on Highway 106 between the Mt. William overpass and Abercrombie Road reported shortly after 9:15 am.

A van, registered in Prince Edward Island was traveling north bound on Highway 106 towards Pictou, when the driver lost control.  The van rolled over several times coming to rest at the tree line.  A male passenger in his 50's was ejected from the vehicle and was seriously injured.  He was subsequently air lifted to the QEII Hospital in Halifax.  Seven other occupants injured in the van were transported to the Aberdeen hospital with undetermined injuries.

The RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.  Police, with the assistance of the Department of Transportation closed one lane of Highway 106 while the investigation continues.  Highway 106 is reduced to one lane until approximately 6:00pm.

The Pictou County District RCMP are continuing their investigation into this collision.
