On Saturday September 4, 2010 at approximately 5:50 pm, The Cape Breton Regional Police Service along with Sydney Fire and EHS responded to an industrial accident on Victoria Road near the Pier Pharmasave Store.
Due to Hurricane Earl, a crew from Nova Scotia Power was working on the lines across the street from this store. With the extremely high winds the lineman in the bucket became entangled in the live wires. His partner on the ground ran to a nearby pole and turned off a switch to kill the power to this section of line.
The injured lineman was transported by paramedics to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Nova Scotia Power will conduct their own investigation into this incident.
