Two people face drug charges after an arrest yesterday afternoon in Halifax.

On Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 4:40 pm, officers assigned to the Central Quick Response Unit, assisted by Central Patrol Officers, arrested the two individuals in the 2100 block of Barrington Street.

The officers were acting on information regarding drug activity in the area and the subsequent search resulted in a quantity of marijuana, crack cocaine and prescription medication being seized.

A 29-year-old Halifax man faces charges of drug trafficking and drug possession. A 16-year-old male youth faces charges of drug possession and breach of probation. Both are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The Quick Response Unit is an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these Units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues.
