On Monday, August 16, 2010 at 1:00 am, RCMP received a 911 call of a possible impaired driver on Highway 101.

The suspect vehicle, a Subaru Legacy was located and stopped on Highway 101 near Exit 3.  As the RCMP member approached the Subaru on foot, it sped away from the officer.

The officer then proceeded down the highway (1 km) and observed the suspect loose control of the vehicle into the median.  Four suspects then fled from the vehicle into the woods.   One of the suspects came out of the woods immediately and was arrested without incident.  A K-9 unit arrived on scene and tracked one of the other suspects approximately 1 km into the woods and he was arrested without incident.  The Subaru Legacy was discovered stolen from a residence in Dartmouth.

The arrested male adults (18 and 19) have been released to appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Dartmouth for October 13, 2010 and will be charged with Flight from Police and Joy Riding.  The investigation is continuing to identify the two other suspects.
