With the upcoming Natal Day weekend, HRM Partners in Policing would like to remind motorists about events which may impact traffic and also encourage safe driving.
On Monday August 2, the 115th Annual Natal Day Parade is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. It will follow the same route as in years past, starting on Novalea Drive, traveling down Gottingen Street, crossing the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge, along Wyse Road, down Alderney Drive onto Prince Albert Road and finishing at Sullivan's Pond. The route will be closed as the parade passes through and motorists should expect delays.
There is also the 28th Annual Bridge Walk which takes place on Monday August 2 from 2 - 4 p.m. The MacDonald Bridge will be closed during this time.
With all the activities planned, police expect heavier then usual traffic on our roads this weekend. Motorists are advised to allow extra time to get where they are going. Pedestrians are also reminded to use crosswalks when crossing the street and to work in partnership with drivers to ensure that HRM streets are safe for everyone.
HRM Partners in Policing are also pleased to be teamed up with Canadian Blood Services and will be handing out pamphlets encouraging the public to take time to help save lives by donating a pint of blood.
