Members of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Drug Unit were conducting surveillance on a residence on Highway 2 in Wellington yesterday afternoon.
Police observed a vehicle attend the residence and place a package in the trunk and then leave. The Integrated Drug Unit followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 at the Elmsdale intersection by the Credit Union. Police seized five pounds of marijuana from the vehicle and arrested the 26-year-old male. He will appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Dartmouth later today on Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges.
Integrated Drug members continued surveillance on the residence and observed another vehicle attend. The suspects were observed going to the house and coming out and placing a package into the vehicle. The vehicle then departed the residence and another traffic stop was conducted short distance away from the residence on Highway 2 in Wellington. Police seized was a pound of marijuana, 9.5 grams of cocaine, and a small amount of Canadian Currency. Two males aged 26 and 23 were arrested and will be also appearing in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Dartmouth later today on Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges.
As a result of the traffic stops a search of the residence on Highway 2 in Wellington took place and police seized 5 grams of hash oil, a small amount of cocaine, 131 Valium tablets, a large amount of Canadian currency and digital scales and other drug paraphernalia. A 33-year-old male and a 34-year-old female arrested at the residence have been released to appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court at a later date of Possession and Trafficking charges.
